Texas native Matthew McConaughey got his start as an actor working in local television commercials in Austin in the 1990s before rising to fame in the coming-of-age comedy Dazed and Confused (1993). He followed up with supporting roles in Angels in the Outfield (1994) and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1994) before proving his talents as a leading man in the 1996 legal drama, A Time to Kill. From there, the sky was the limit as he earned critical acclaim for his work in Contact (1997), Amistad (1997), The Newton Boys (1998), EDtv (1999), U-571 (2000), and Frailty (2001).

By the new millennium, McConaughey proved his talents as a leading man in romantic comedies like The Wedding Planner (2001), How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003), and Failure to Launch (2006). These films and many others sealed his fate as a sex symbol before he took a two-year hiatus from acting. He made a huge comeback as a dramatic actor in 2011 when he starred in the Lincoln Lawyer (2011). Since then, he’s been unstoppable with credits in Bernie (2011), Killer Joe (2011), Mud (2012), Magic Mike (2012), The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), and The Dallas Buyers Club (2013), the latter of which earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor.

Today, the 50-year-old McConaughey is still going strong with his most recent credits including Serenity (2019), The Beach Bum (2019), Between Two Ferns: The Movie (2019), and The Gentlemen (2020). These films and his many business ventures have earned him a fortune of over $95 million, which he happily shares with his wife, Camila Alves (2012-Present) and their three children.

McConaughey, who bought shares of the Austin FC of Major League Soccer in 2019, adds to his wealth through his acting and producing career as well as his many endorsement deals with brands like Lincoln. That’s why he proudly drives a Lincoln MKX Luxury SUV, which is priced around $70,000!

Earning $4 million as the Creative Director for Wild Turkey bourbon since 2016 and a few more million for his work with Lincoln, it’s no surprise that McConaughey drives the $70,000 Lincoln MKX Luxury SUV. Heck, it’s also a great family car with plenty of room for McConaughey, his wife, and their three children. So, what makes the car so luxurious? Let’s take a closer look.

The Lincoln MKX made its debut in 2007 as the first crossover SUV by the Lincoln brand. The first generation was produced from 2007 to 2015 and featured two engine options—a 3.5-liter Duratec 35 V6 engine or a 3.7-liter Duratec 37 V6 engine—with an automatic or six-speed transmission. The first generation MKX featured several upgrades including adaptive headlights, LED brake lights, an optional Vista sunroof, leather seating, wood accents, dual power heated mirrors, power windows, cruise control, power adjustable seating, and automatic climate control. The MKX also offered several safety features including three-point seatbelts, dual front-side airbags, front seat-deployed side airbags, curtain airbags, and tire pressure monitoring.

The second generation of the MKX debuted at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show and has been in production since 2015. The newer models feature three engine options—a 2-liter EcoBoost, a 3.7-liter Cyclone V6, or a 2.7 EcoBoost V-6—with a six-speed automatic or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The amenities include state-of-the-art headlights, taillights, and running lights as well as a computer controlled transmission shown on the MyLincoln Touch infotainment touch screen. The newer generation continues to offer the utmost in luxury while providing exceptional power with a 335-horsepower engine and fuel efficiency of 18 miles per gallon in the city and up to 25 miles per gallon on the highway. This gives the Lincoln MKX exceptional power and fuel economy for a luxury car.

Today, the Lincoln MKX is still in production alongside its newer upgrade, the Lincoln Nautilus, which debuted in 2019. The Nautilus combines the best of the Lincoln Aviator and the MKC and, as of 2020, will be known as the Lincoln Corsair. The Corsair features two engine options—a 2-liter EcoBoost and a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6—as well as an eight-speed automatic transmission. The car is expected to be a top-seller for Lincoln especially with the rise of MKX sales in 2019 increasing from 28,573 models sold in the United States in 2018 to an impressive 31,711 models sold in 2019. It looks like McConaughey’s hard work endorsing Lincoln is certainly paying off—for both Lincoln and the top-earning actor and Hollywood heartthrob!
