Gianna Jun’s Quarter Million Dollar Bentley
If you plan on succeeding in entertainment, you have to be able to show yourself well. For Gianna Jun, known by her South Korean fans as Jun Ji-hyun, maintaining a sense of elegance and class is easy with her Bentley Continental Flying Spur 6.0. Known for always looking at the top of her game, let’s take a closer look at one of the more expensive luxury vehicles in Jun’s repertoire.
For starters, the world of luxury cars has changed significantly. Performers like Jun are no longer solely looking at Maserati’s and Rolls-Royce. Instead, Bentley has risen to become one of the most popular luxury cars for stars of Jun’s stature. The Bentley Continental Flying Spur isn’t just a mouthful, it’s one of the finest cars that we’ve seen.
Bentley has been a part of the Volkswagen Group since the middle of 1999. The Flying Spur is only the second Bentley that has been put on the market since being purchased by Volkswagen. As a result, celebrities everywhere were lining up to get their hands on the $285,000 car. What exactly does this luxurious car offer to superstars like Jun?
The Bentley Continental Flying Spur looks a whole lot like the Continental GT, but there are some major differences. For starters, the Flying Spur immediately stands out for its four-door availability versus the typical two-door models that GT fans fell in love with. On top of the additional doors, Jun’s Continental Flying Spur measures out at 12.6″ wheelbase and 19.8″ in length. As a result of this extended size, the Flying Spur changes from a tight-seated GT into what feels nearly like a limousine.
While the exterior of the car has changed dramatically from the Continental GT, the guts of the Flying Spur are still pretty similar. Under the hood of Jun’s Flying Spur, you’ll find a turbocharged W12 engine that has also been found in the Audi A8 as well as the classy Phaeton. The 6.0L engine pushes 551hp at 1600 RPMs with 479lb-ft of torque. Thanks to a custom engine computer, the boost pressure allows your peak torque to remain unaltered until it hits 5,100 RPMs, thus helping to protect the gears of your transmission.
Despite being a heavier vehicle (at 5,580 lbs!) Jun’s Flying Spur still manages to impress on the road. The Flying Spur can go from a dead stop to 60 MPH in just over 4.5 seconds while hitting 150 MPH in a total of 30 seconds. All the figures that we outlined are somehow more impressive than the slimmer Continental GT. As a result of VW’s impressive development capabilities, Gianna Jun has what is considered to be one of the fastest sedans on the planet. Having said that, we hope Jun never has to ramp up the speed to the limit unless she is on a track!
While Gianna Jun’s Flying Spur is impressive to look out, it is even more comfortable to ride in. We mentioned that the Flying Spur features impressive length and that translates directly to an incredible amount of legroom. The back seats are plenty spacious for full-sized adults to sit in, and we trust that Jun’s passengers enjoy the interior detailing. At the end of the day, there is just so much to love about Jun’s choice in luxury cars.
South Korean Superstar
As Gianna Jun continues to break toward the western markets, more and more people are going to get familiar with her work. As a result, we should probably leave you with a few insightful tidbits about her career away from her luxury car collection.
Gianna Jun made her Hollywood debut in 2006 when she was cast as the lead in Blood: The Last Vampire. A video-game adaptation, the film received largely mixed reviews, though it served as a launching point for Jun’s career in America. From there, Jun would appear in films like Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, A Man Who Was Superman, and The Thieves.
Most recently, Jun has stayed busy by working on major projects back in South Korea. She starred in Choi Dong-hoon’s film, Assassination. The film was set in the 1930s and is centered on a group of independence fighters seeking to take out a Japanese commander. Jun played a sniper in the film for which she was awarded the Best Actress title at the Grand Bell Awards. Assassination would end up being the highest-grossing South Korean film of 2015 and the seventh-highest grossing South Korean film of all time. Following that performance, Jun returned to the small screen with a starring role in the drama, Legend of the Blue Sea across from Lee Min-ho.
